Kristen Studard, the critically acclaimed Chicago improviser and comedian, will conclude the premiere run of her new solo show, Small Victories: An Unflattering Vanity Project, at the Annoyance Theatre, shortly before appearing in the Just For Laughs Chicago comedy festival.

With a penchant for self-disclosure and an eye for the absurd, Kristen Studard's solo show Small Victories: An Unflattering Vanity Project sheds a hilarious and often harsh light on the lies we tell ourselves to get through the day. The versatile Studard, winner of the 2007 comedy talent competition Impress These Apes, takes the spotlight once again with unique characters that share secrets, fears and sexual confessions. Everyday household objects cry out their inner thoughts, a Hungry Hungry Hippo contemplates the loss of his appetite, and a girl scout invokes eugenics in a dog adoption debate. The show's memorable climax, featuring a lustful bee wooing a lonely house-flower, will give you a new respect for pollination.

About Kristen Studard
Kristen Studard is a Chicago comedian who has studied and performed improv in Chicago since late 2004. She is a graduate of the iO Training Center and the Second City Conservatory, where she studied under and with some of the brightest minds in Chicago comedy. In September of 2007, Kristen won the second season of the comedy talent competition Impress These Apes, in which she had to perform a new challenge each week before being scored by a panel of comedians dressed as apes. Kristen can currently be seen performing at the iO Theatre with the improvised puppet show Felt, or the improvised Harold with her team Mike Helicopter, as well as with the all-girl supergroup Mountain Dawn!

Kristen spent her formative years moving from one Chicago suburb to another, with a brief stint in Tennessee. In 1999, Kristen entered Bradley University where she was a founding member of the sketch and improv troupe The Roost. After graduating from Bradley in 2003 with a B.A. in Theatre Performance and Communications, she moved to Scotland for a year where she made sandwiches and worked at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Since moving to Chicago, she has been lucky to perform in several sketch shows and on several improv teams. Notably with The Geekouts in The Bestest Stuff at Chicago Sketchfest (2007) and as part of the 2007 iO Cagematch finalists The MISSfits. For more, visit HelloKristen.com.
