Paul W. Thompson, Chicago Regional Editor for BroadwayWorld.com, author of the weekly column, "The Showtune Mosh Pit," and owner of Paul W. Thompson Music in the Chicago Loop, announces three fun summer events at The Call Bar for 2013. He's hosting one each month!

Sunday, June 9, 2013, (6:00 pm-11:00 pm) is the TONY AWARD VIEWING PARTY.

Wednesday, July 10, 2013 (8:00 pm-12:00 midnight) is the SUMMER BIRTHDAY SHOWTUNE BLOWOUT.

Wednesday, August 28, 2013 (8:00 pm-12:00 midnight) is the FALL THEATER PREVIEW PARTY.

The Call Bar, 1547 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue in Chicago, between Clark Street and Ashland Avenue, is home to Andersonville's largest dance floor. But readers of BroadwayWorld Chicago know it as the home of the annual BroadwayWorld Chicago Awards Celebration every winter, hosted for the last three years by BWW's Paul W. Thompson and The Call's Ashley Morgan. And of course, on every Wednesday night, "Curtains Up!" brings you your favorites Broadway and Silver Screen hits on the video screen, starting at 9:00 pm. It is a 21 and over venue. And there are drink specials every day!

TONY AWARD VIEWING PARTY

On Sunday evening, June 9th, The Call will be the perfect place for the first ever BroadwayWorld Chicago

"Tony Award Viewing Party!" Did you know that the Andersonville neighborhood's annual street fair, Midsommarfest, takes place June 7-9 this year? You can spend all day in the historic Swedish neighborhood, now one of Chicago's prominent LGBT neighborhoods, and walk right up to the north end of the strip and keep your day going! VJ Michael Hogan will begin spinning showtune videos when the bar opens at 4:00 pm.

At 6:00, the party gets underway, with "Chicago At The Tonys" trivia questions. Just how much has the Chicago theater community impacted New York's Tony Awards over the years? Bone up on those answers, and win prizes furnished by The Call! Host Paul W. Thompson will keep the questions coming during commercial breaks in the broadcast, and even after the telecast is over at 10:00, the party will go on until 11:00. Or longer! It's the BroadwayWorld Chicago Tony Award Viewing Party! You won't miss any awards or live performances, we promise you. And The Call is open until 2:00 am. Why not watch the Tonys with all your friends? Come on down!

SUMMER BIRTHDAY SHOWTUNE BLOWOUT

The fun continues in July, with the "Summer Birthday Showtune Blowout" on Wednesday night, July 10th, from 8:00 pm until midnight. Paul W. Thompson turns 52 this summer, and his popular column, the "Showtune Mosh Pit" turns four years old, also passing its milestone 200th weekly edition! Many Mosh Pit readers may share summer birthdays, too, the kind that were never quite remembered in your homeroom at school the way that fall, winter and spring birthdays were celebrated. So this is your chance to change all that!

Anyone with a birthday or other occasion to celebrate in the summertime can come to The Call and celebrate in style, with showtune videos from 8:00 pm to 2:00 am. Got an anniversary? An out-of-town guest? Sounds like a reason to party!

A feature of this event will be "Stump The Chump" trivia. If Thompson's knowledge of musical theater and showtune trivia is less than your own, prove it and win a prize! Just be able to prove your answer on your smartphone, laptop, etc., and you've Stumped The Chump! Written questions only, please, submitted to staff during the event, just moments before Thompson hears your challenge!

FALL THEATER PREVIEW PARTY

On the last Wednesday of August, August 28, 2013, The Call will be the site of the "Fall Theater Preview Party," from 8:00 pm-12:00 midnight. Chicago area theater companies will be invited to bring information about their fall seasons, so that everyone in attendance can plan out their nights at all the "Super September" shows that happen every year in the Chicago theater community. Some theaters may be giving away chances for tickets, and some may even perform excerpts (details to be announced later). And theaters--you don't have to wait to be invited to participate, just let Thompson know you're coming! He'll host the party, keep the information flowing and let you know who's in the room. Did anyone say, "networking?"

This event will be a fun way to welcome folks back from their summer activities, and to focus on the great Chicago theater scene that explodes in the weeks after Labor Day. With showtune videos on the screens and theater people on hand, what's not to love? See you there!
