Stage Left Theatre Presents The Eight: Reindeer Monologues

By:

Stage Left Theatre announces our upcoming production of The Eight: Reindeer Monologues written by Jeff Goode and directed by ensemble members Greg Werstler, Jason Fleece, Drew Martin, and Mark Pracht. The Eight: Reindeer Monologues is the second production of Stage Left's 30th season. Press opening is Friday, December 9th at 10:30 PM, and the show runs through December 31st.

Says Artistic Director Vance Smith "Not only does The Eight serve our mission of raising social and political debate by asking real and timely questions about sensationalism and subjectivity in the media, but it's also hilarious and more than a little rude. It's not that often we get a chance to be this silly."

THE PLAY

Scandal erupts at the North Pole when one of Santa's eight tiny reindeer accuses him of sexual harassment. As the press descends, the other reindeer demand to reveal their stories, and a horrific tale of corruption and perversion emerges. Stage Left brings this hilarious, international theatrical sensation back to the city where it was first produced in a limited run, late-night production.

The Eight: Reindeer Monologues first premiered in 1994 in a production by Chicago's Dolphinback Theatre Company. It has since been produced hundreds of times in almost every state in the union as well as in England, Ireland, Scotland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Italy and the Philippines. Chicago audiences most recently saw the show in a 2005 production by The Journeymen Theatre Company
