Spectralia Theatre, in cooperation with Friends of the Parks and the Chicago Park District, presents William Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona June 21st to August 3rd. Set against the backdrop of the 1896 Yukon Gold Rush, Spectralia's production features prospectors, saloon gals, and outlaws in a search for love and fortune. This family-friendly, 90-minute version of The Two Gentlemen of Verona is a great introduction to Shakespeare as well as a new take on a classic comedy. Patrons are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and/or chairs to this outdoor production.

Spectralia Theatre founder Don Johnson directs the production. Originally from Delta Junction, Alaska, this is Johnson's seventh Shakespeare adaption and his third for Spectralia. Artistic staff includes Lauren Angel-Nichols (set/graphic design) Cherish Varley (costume design), Chelsea Taylor (assistant director/stage manager), and Zach Blackwell (music).

The Two Gentlemen of Verona runs June 21-August 3, Saturdays and Sundays at 5 p.m. except as noted. Performance dates/locations: June 21st and 22nd at Chase Park (4701 N. Ashland), July 6th at Nichols Park (1355 E. 53rd St), July 12th and 13th at Ravenswood Manor Park (4626 N. Manor), July 19th and 20th at Touhy Park (7348 N. Paulina), July 26th and 27th at Skinner Park (1331 W. Adams), August 2nd at Jackson Park (6401 S. Stony Island) and August 3rd at Sauganash Park (5861 N. Kostner) and a special noon matinee at Edgebrook Park (6525 N. Hiawatha). All performances are free of charge. Donations are appreciated.
