Short Story Theatre, a troupe of local writers/performers, present an evening of storytelling on Thursday, July 25, at 7:30 p.m., at Cellar Gate Wine Bar, 524 Sheridan Road in Highwood.
Performing with the group for the first time is former WGN radio host and Sun-Times columnist Judy Markey of Highland Park and her story "24-hour Widow." Novelist Ron Levitsky of Lake Forest will present his story - "Gay Bingo." Mary Lou Gilliam of Deerfield performs "A Bat Story" and Donna Lubow of Riverwoods tells her story about "The Man in the Elevator." Stories are creative non-fiction and are approximately 10 minutes long, with breaks between stories to eat and drink. Tickets are $10. 2-drink or 1 drink/1 appetizer minimum. Seating is limited. Call for reservations: 847-748-8086, or email cellargate@gmail.com. For more information and for guidelines for submission: www.shortstorytheatre.com. Judy Markey spent 20 years co-hosting WGN Radio's "Kathy and Judy Show." The show won both state and national awards. She has published two novels, and two collections of her nationally syndicated Sun-Times columns. She is a born talker, a born writer, and a born lover of story-telling, but... she's still scared of screwing up.
