Hell in a Handbag Productions is proud to announce that Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer 2010 raised money for two very worthy organizations during its 5 week run.

The opening night performance was a benefit for The Trevor Project. Hell in a Handbag donated 50% of its box office receipts to The Trevor Project, an organization that operates the only nationwide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide prevention helpline for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth. Hamburger Mary's partnered with Hell in a Handbag offering a complimentary cocktail with all ticket purchases. The evening raised a total of $715.00.

"We felt strongly about The Trevor Project and its mission because the story of Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer is all about feeling marginalized in a society and dealing with the emotions and consequences that this brings" says David Cerda, Hell in a Handbag Artistic Director and author of Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer.

The remaining run of Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer collected money for Season of Concern. Season of Concern is the Chicagoland theatre community's fundraising effort, providing compassionate care to those in our community who are experiencing the effects of catastrophic illness. This year Hell in a Handbag was able to raise $1960.00 thanks to the generous donations of Hell in a Handbag patrons. As in previous years Hell in a Handbag dedicates their fundraising efforts to Ray Thomas. Mr. Thomas, who was in the first production of Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer 13 years ago passed away due to complications from HIV and his spirit and joy of life will always be remembered by those in Hell in a Handbag Productions.

"The cast of Rudolph the Red-Hosed Reindeer looked forward to collecting monies for Season of Concern every night and Handbag audiences were extremely generous, for which we our truly grateful" says Cerda.

Established in 2002, Hell in a Handbag Productions is Chicago's leading not-for-profit parody theater company that embraces the fine art of camp. For more information about Hell in a Handbag and upcoming productions visit us at www.handbagproductions.org
