Route 66 Presents LAST AUTUMN, 1/9
Route 66 will feature members of the cast of ELIZABETH REX, the critically acclaimed hit show now playing at Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Directed by Associate Artistic Director Erica Weiss, who served as Assistant Director on ELIZABETH REX, Brenda Barrie, Matt Farabee, and Mary Ann Thebus will take the "stage" at Mrs Murphy's and Sons Irish Bistro for a reading of a new play by Adam Simon (writer, CBS's "A Gifted Man").
At the brink of a new ice age in Southern California, Melanie (Brenda Barrie) has returned from Chicago to say goodbye to her dying mother, Elaine (Mary Ann Thebus). Their drawn-out parting becomes an emotional yet comical airing of grievances and awkward apologies. When Melanie meets 13-year-old orphan Mason (Matt Farabee), the world is turned even further upside down as their strange friendship evolves.
The reading will take place Upstairs at Mrs. Murphy and Sons Irish Bistro at 3905 N. Lincoln Ave (in Northcenter). There is parking on the corner of Lincoln and Byron in Murphy's lot.
There will be a $5 suggested donation.
There will be a brief talk back following the reading.
