Rivendell Theatre Ensemble (RTE), in association with Chicago DCA Theater, presents the world premiere of Precious Little. The play written by Madeline George runs at Chicago DCA's Storefront Theater at 66 E. Randolph Street, from March 1 through April 2, 2011. Members of the press are invited to the opening performance Thursday, March 3, at 7:30 p.m.

In Precious Little, Brodie (RTE Ensemble Member Meighan Gerachis), a forty-something professor of linguistics, learns that her unborn child may have a genetic abnormality that would prevent the child from ever learning language. Through her relationships with several unlikely confidants - her much younger girlfriend (RTE ensemble member Kathy Logelin), an elderly speaker of a dying language she's studying (Marilyn Dodds Frank), and a gorilla at the zoo - Brodie struggles to decide whether or not to keep the baby who may or may not ever learn to speak. This is a humorous and emotional play that looks at the limits of language-and what lies beneath its surface.

Performances of Precious Little are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday afternoons at 3 p.m. A post-show discussion with the cast and crew will follow the performances on Thursday, March 10.

Tickets are $25 for general admission and $15 for students and seniors with ID. The preview performances on March 1 and 2 cost $15. Discounts are available for Chicago Cultural Center Mosaic Members, theater industry affiliates, military personnel, ADA companions, and large groups. All tickets are available by calling 312.742.TIXS (8497), visiting www.dcatheater.org, or stopping by the DCA Box Office in the Chicago Cultural Center at 78 E. Washington Street, open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 6 pm and Sundays, noon to 4 pm. When available, tickets go on sale one hour before each performance at the Storefront Theater.

Special Events
In association with the production, Rivendell Theatre Ensemble and Chicago DCA Theater present the following FREE program:

Panel Discussion: Two Mommies, One Mommy, Two Daddies, One Daddy...the Rapidly Changing Face(s) of the American Family in Theater
Tuesday, March 8, at 12:15 pm
Claudia Cassidy Theater in the Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E. Washington Street
As more gay couples, single parents, and straight couples adopt, use fertility treatments, and otherwise reproduce, the definition of family has shifted radically. American theater has historically been a place to delve deeply into issues of "family drama." Have the arts stepped up to reflect these new cultural "norms"? The panel features representatives from the DCA Theater's Spring 2011 resident theater companies.

The Storefront Theater and the Studio Theater, its companion theater located in the Chicago Cultural Center at 78 E. Washington Street, comprise Chicago DCA Theater, an anchor of the downtown theater district. Chicago DCA Theater offers downtown audiences an off-Loop theater experience with an exciting look at the vibrant theater companies that call Chicago home. Proposals for creative and innovative productions for the July to December 2011 season are being accepted now through October 15, 2010.

Discounted parking is available at Wabash Randolph Self Park at 20 E. Randolph. Patrons can receive the $10 rate by validating their ticket at the Storefront Theater box office.
