Raue Center's Artful Women is excited to welcome celebrated author, Elizabeth Berg, with "The Story Behind the Stories: Finding Inspiration" at 3 p.m. on August 28, 2016. The New York Times best-selling author will share personal stories that served as inspiration for her award-winning novels and take questions from the audience.

Berg has made several appearances on the New York Times best-sellers list during her career. She is the author of many popular novels, including "We Are All Welcome Here," "The Art of Mending," "Say When," "True to Form" and "Never Change." In addition to her vast body of non-fiction work, Berg is also the author of a non-fiction work, "Escaping into the Open: The Art of Writing True." Before she became a writer, Berg was a registered nurse for ten years. She considered that time her "school" for writing - taking care of patients taught her a lot about hope and fear and love and loss.

Berg has won numerous awards for her work. "Durable Goods" and "Joy School" were selected as American Library Association Best Books of the Year and "Talk Before Sleep" was shortlisted for the American Bookseller's Book of the Year Award in 1996. Berg is the winner of the 1997 New England Booksellers Award for her body of work and "Open House" was selected as an Oprah's Book Club selection in 2000.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased online at rauecenter.org or via the Box Office at 815.356.9212 or 26 N. Williams Street in downtown Crystal Lake.
