Photo Flash: First Look at Spectralia Theatre's AS YOU LIKE IT
Welcome to Arden – the bridge between urban and pastoral, where everyone's going somewhere but no one knows where they are. Follow this lively crew of buskers, nature enthusiasts and park employees on their adventures in love, honor and reconciliation. This family-friendly, 90-minute version of As You Like It is a great introduction to Shakespeare as well as a new take on a classic comedy. Patrons are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and/or chairs to this outdoor production.
Spectralia Theatre founding member Don Johnson directs the production. This is Johnson's fifth Shakespeare adaptation and his first for Spectralia. Artistic staff includes Peter Waldman (original music), Chad Bianchi (set design), Emma Weber (costume design), and Kaitlin Taylor (assistant direction).
As You Like It runs June 30-August 5, Saturdays and Sundays at 5 p.m. Performance dates/locations: June 30 and July 1 at Ravenswood Manor Park (4626 N. Manor), July 7 at Wrightwood Park (2534 N. Greenview), July 8 at Nichols Park (1355 E. 53rd St), July 14 and 15 at Touhy Park (7348 N. Paulina), July 21 and 22 at Skinner Park (1331 W. Adams), July 28 and 29 at Portage Park (4100 N. Long), and August 4 and 5 at Chase Park (4701 N. Ashland). All performances are free of charge. Donations are appreciated.
