By:

Aimed at the young and young at heart, the Harris Theater for Music and Dance concludes its 2010-2011 Family Series with Once Upon a Tap, a high-speed, high-energy tap dance performance featuring Derick Grant and the Grant Family Tappers on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 2:00 pm. Last seen at the Harris in 2008 as part of the sold-out Dan Zanes and Friends performance, Derick Grant, the creator and star of Imagine Tap!, returns with his dazzling, virtuosic, high speed hoofing-this time joined by his 11 year-old daughter Lulu, and son Kaleo, who will celebrate his 13th birthday the day of the performance! Together they will create a visual bedtime story through dance, bringing the action packed adventures of its characters to life in this foot stomping, tap dancing extravaganza. This super fast, energy packed, electrifying hour of tap is certain to get your feet moving!

With individual tickets priced at just $10 each, the whole family can attend affordable and exceptional live music and dance performances that enrich their lives. Tickets are available at the Harris Theater box office located in Millennium Park at 205 E. Randolph Dr., by calling 312-334-7777 or by visiting www.harristheaterchicago.org.

The Harris Theater's Family Series provides families an opportunity to introduce and further the live performance experience with innovative and imaginative programming that inspires conversation well beyond the event. The celebrated multi-disciplinary series, part of the Theater's Family Enrichment Initiative, featured four engaging dance and music performance during the 2010-2011 season, including the internationally heralded Sphinx Chamber Orchestra, Hip Hopera by Francesco Milioto and his New Millennium Orchestra, Green Eggs and Hamadeus with Midwest Young Artists, and Once Upon a Tap.

Founded in 2003, the Harris Theater's mission is to partner and collaborate with an array of Chicago's emerging and mid-sized performing arts organizations to help them build the resources and infrastructure necessary to achieve artistic growth and long-term organizational sustainability. The Harris Theater for Music and Dance was the first multi-use performing arts venue to be built in the Chicago downtown area since 1929 and today the Theater continues to host the most diverse offerings of any venue in Chicago, featuring the city's world-renowned music and dance institutions and the Harris Theater Presents series of acclaimed national and international companies.
