Mental Notion Society and Plan 9 Burlesque to Stage FIGHT CLUB: A PROJECT MAYHEM BURLESQUE, 3/7-4/11

By:

The Mental Notion Society and Plan 9 Burlesque present "Fight Club: A Project Mayhem Burlesque." In parody to the Chuck Palahniuk novel & David Fincher movie, an insomniac crosses paths with a soap-maker who widens her eyes to what's important to life. In doing so, the duo create an underground fighting club which ultimately grows into city mass mischief. Plan 9 Burlesque teams up with the Mental Notion Society in making their debut burlesque play production. Fight Club: A Project Mayhem Burlesque makes its initial 6-week run, every Thursday at 8:00 pm from March 7th thru April 11th, 2013, at the Public House Theatre, 3914 N. Clark St., Chicago, IL 60613. Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the theater box office or online at www.thepubtheater.com.

As themed in accordance to the novel & film, Fight Club: A Project Mayhem Burlesque, follows a life changing time within a woman seeking freedom from monotony. An insomniac finds herself addicted to constantly up-keeping all of her social networking profiles. In losing sleep, she finds a right of way by joining various support groups. This remedy gives her a taste of rest but quickly realizes that upon arrival of a fraud, known as Marla Singer, joins in the groups as well, she loses her peace. In the return of sleepless nights and traveling for work, the insomniac meets an interesting character named Taylor Durden.

Taylor Durden is not your typical well mannered poster child for what's right in the world, but she has her strong influencing ways. After compromising situations leave a job traveling insomniac homeless, Taylor becomes the savior to more than one said problem. The two quickly become good friends through one providing a place to stay, while the other providing the start of what becomes known as Fight Club. From one punch, this Fight Club becomes the new support group that was desperately needed by our narrator.

As the Fight Club grew stronger, Taylor and the insomniac grew stronger. The Club evolves into Project Mayhem and from there, mischief arrives via Space Monkeys. Does the power become overwhelming for Taylor & the narrator? What kind of mischief do the Space Monkeys perform? And does this insomniac ever find internal peace within herself?

Fight Club: A Project Mayhem Burlesque features Ann Hauserbush, Bunny Bixby, Doxie Doll, Jane Goodforall, Marie Curieosity, Sadie Hotkins, and Towanda Lust. Fight Choreography by Bobby Hoffman. Dance Choreography by Stella Cheeks. Written / Directed by Jonald Jude Reyes.
