Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. Closes Final Season with AMERICAN BUFFALO

Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co. closes its 30th and final season with David Mamet's gripping and often hilarious drama AMERICAN BUFFALO, directed by Carlo Lorenzo Garcia, playing January 28 - March 6, 2016 at Angel Island, 735 W. Sheridan Rd. in Chicago. The press opening is Friday, February 5 at 8 pm.

The cast of the Jeff Award Recommended production includes Richard Cotovsky (Donny Dubrow), Rudy Galvan (Bobby) and Stephen Walker (Walter "Teach" Cole).

You make your own right and wrong. During a single day in an unremarkable junk shop on a nondescript street in Chicago in the mid-'70s, three small-time would-be crooks scramble to pull off a fast heist for easy money. As they plan the unlikely caper, an increasing tension between them tests their friendship and threatens to shatter everything they fight for. Hilarious and appalling, this brute race for a lowlife version of the American dream is brilliantly syncopated by Mamet's rapid-fire two-bit bum's lingo.

David Mamet (Playwright) is the author of the plays: Race, Keep Your Pantheon, School, November, Romance, Boston Marriage, Faustus, Oleanna, Glengarry Glen Ross (1984 Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics Circle Award, 2005 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play), American Buffalo, The Old Neighborhood, A Life in the Theatre, Speed-the-Plow, Edmond, Lakeboat, The Water Engine, The Woods, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Reunion and The Cryptogram (1995 Obie Award). His translations and adaptations include: Faustus and Red River by Pierre Laville; and The Cherry Orchard, Three Sisters and Uncle Vanya by Anton Chekov. His films include: The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Verdict, The Untouchables, House of Games (writer/director), Oleanna (writer/director), Homicide (writer/director), The Spanish Prisoner (writer/ director), Heist (writer/director), Spartan (writer/director) and Redbelt (writer/director). Carlo Lorenzo Garcia (Director) He served as Producing Director for Mary-Arrchie Theatre Co from 2008-2013, 2015-2016, where his stage work includes Cherrywood, Buried Child, Mojo, Gas Mask 101, Beggars in the House of Plenty and How to Disappear Completely and Never Be Found. Carlo directed the highly acclaimed Red Light Winter (4 Jeff Nominations & 1 Jeff Citation) and Our Bad Magnet (2 Jeff Nominations). Other directing credits include Richard III for Wayward Productions, short plays for Pavement Group, Jackalope Theatre Co., Columbia College and Guera for Collaboraction & Teatro Vista's YO SOLO Festival. Carlo is also an Associate Artist with Teatro Vista, Wayward Productions and Chicago Dramatists. Other regional theater credits include: Goodman Theatre, Teatro Vista, Wayward Productions, Vineyard Arts Project, Strawdog, Collaboraction, Greasy Joan & Co., Teatro Luna, The Free Associates and Walkabout Theater at Lookingglass.
