MCL Theatre Presents ANTICS ROADSHOW WITH DEVON MEYERS, 5/7 - 6/25
Coming Thursdays 10pm, May 7th - June 25th to the MCL Theatre, ANTICS ROADSHOW WITH DEVON MEYERS is a semi-scripted absurdist musical parody of the popular PBS TV show Antiques Roadshow. Aging fictional television personality Devon Myers and his overly sentimental producer Preston Antic, are joined by an eclectic mix of characters as they create on-the-fly histories and evaluations of treasured items presented to them by the audience. Audience members are encouraged to bring objects from home and are quickly drawn into the excitement of this upbeat reinterpretation an iconic television show.
The cast features some of Chicago's up-and-coming improv superstars. Our hosts Devon Myers and Preston Antic are played by Steven Lyons (ensemble member at ComedySportz Chicago, Laugh Out Loud, and has worked with Second City Theatricals aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines), and Scottie Allen Curry (Cabaret at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in Salt Lake City, "Happiness Begins With Me" at 3.2 Improv Theatre). The cast of musical appraisers includes performers Mary DeMan (Wizard of Oz; Natl Tour), Courtney Fontaine (VAMP, Storytown & ComedySportz Washington DC), Liz Joynt Sandberg (The Improvised Sondheim Project, VAMP & Storytown), Todd Page (Improv Boston, ComedySportz Boston & MCL's MINT program), Zack Shornick (Buffalo at The Annoyance Theatre, Flamingo at ComedySportz Chicago & Zack Shornick and The Pathetic Men), Susan Thomas (NYC Improv Festival, Chicago Improv Festival and Chicago Women's Funny Festival). They are accompanied by musical director Anna Torgerson.
Audience members who bring objects from home have the chance to be part of the show, as each night three items are appraised through song and immortalized in music.
ANTICS ROADSHOW WITH DEVON MEYERS is offering a one night only preview on April 30th where tickets will be half price.
