By:

Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation (LSCRF) and Presenting Sponsor Carson Pirie Scott will be among the first to kick off October's National Breast Cancer Awareness Month with its 26th Annual Fall Benefit on Monday, September 19 beginning at 11 a.m. at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago (160 East Pearson Street), headlined by Hollywood's sweetheart and Academy Award-winning star Goldie Hawn. Proceeds will go toward breast cancer research, fellowships and education programs at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University.

As one of the major cancer research organizations in Chicago, LSCRF will also "Light the Way to Find a Cure," turning Chicago's skyline pink to raise awareness throughout the month of October.

2011 Benefit Luncheon
The Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation 26th Annual Fall Benefit is co-chaired by Michelle Friedman, Ashley Hemphill Netzky and Lara Shipp Shiffman. Goldie Hawn will serve as the keynote speaker. This subject is near and dear to her heart, as Hawn lost her mother to cancer. The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. A silent purse auction to "Purse-sue the Cure" will feature new and collectable handbags from upscale boutiques and private collections. Event tickets are $250 per person or $150 for those under the age of 30, and sponsorships from $500 - $20,000 are available by calling 312.926.4274. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased at www.lynnsage.org.

Light the Way to Find a Cure: Chicago's Skyline Goes Pink

For the tenth consecutive year, Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation will lead the effort to illuminate Chicago's skyline in pink lights to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Chicago buildings will be aglow from dusk starting on September 19 through October 31.

LSCRF is spearheading the sale of "Pink Flags" in standard and custom sizes, displaying the breast cancer signature pink ribbon emblem embossed on the flag. Buildings will Light Pink and raise "Pink Flags" across Chicago, helping to paint the city pink and show support for the continuous fight against breast cancer. The "Pink Flags" can be purchased from LSCRF. All proceeds benefit LSCRF.

This highly visible campaign is aimed at communicating to Chicagoans the importance of early detection of breast cancer and the need for continued research to combat the disease.

About the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation (LSCRF)
In 1985, the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation was founded in memory of Lynn Sage, who died of breast cancer at the age of 39. Lynn's ability to endure a six-year struggle with her spirit and dignity intact inspired 18 family members and close friends to establish a foundation to help others battling breast cancer. In the last 25 years, the Foundation has raised more than $22 million, and the original group of 18 has grown to 88 members serving on three boards.

LSCRF supports the innovations that contribute to the understanding and research of breast cancer. LSCRF works in partnership with Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center of Northwestern University to benefit women today and in the future.
