Light Opera Works is currently taking enrollments for the new Musical Theater Winter Workshop, to be held January 2 through 6, 2013. Based on the success of the company's Summer Workshop, young people ages 8 to 13 learn singing, dancing and acting in preparation for a public performance on Sunday, where family and friends are invited to watch them perform a mini-musical version of DISNEY'S BEAUTY AND THE BEAST. No experience or audition required, and everyone gets a part.

Workshop classes are Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm, with a final dress rehearsal on Sunday at 1:00 pm and the public performance at 4:00 pm.

Workshop manager is Anya Plotkin, a member of the team that created the company's popular Summer Workshop in 2001. She works to create an environment where children have the unique opportunity to develop confidence in a nurturing, non-threatening and fun atmosphere. Workshop director/choreographer is Caryn Ott Hillman. Musical director is Christopher Richard.

Workshop classes are held at the Light Opera Works rehearsal center, 516 4th Avenue in Wilmette. Sunday performances are at Light Opera Works Second Stage at McGaw YMCA Children's Center Auditorium, 1420 Maple Avenue in Evanston. The fee is $350 per student. Register online at www.LightOperaWorks.com/workshop-winter.html or by calling (847) 920-5360.
