League of Chicago Theatres Host 4th Annual Free Night Of Theater

By:

The League of Chicago Theatres announces the fourth annual Free Night of Theater, the nationwide initiative to attract new theater-going audiences, to take place at more than 40 Chicago area theaters throughout October 2011. Visit FreeNightChicago.com between September 9 and 23 to enter to win up to five pairs of free tickets to live performances taking place October 1 - 31, 2011.

At the end of September the tickets will be randomly distributed to participants based on selections and availability. Free tickets are not guaranteed so participants should encourage their friends and family to enter to increase their chances. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter to win tickets through FreeNightChicago.com.

"We are thrilled to participate in this audience development initiative for the fourth year with hundreds of theaters across the country," said Deb Clapp, Executive Director of the League of Chicago Theatres. "We look forward to building on the success of this program and providing thousands of free tickets for new patrons to discover and experience Chicago's world-class theatre scene."

Free Night of Theater is an unprecedented audience development initiative, where theaters across the country offer performance tickets to the public absolutely free-of-charge. The goal of the program is to attract new audiences and increase public awareness of theater. Free Night of Theater is a national program, created and supported by Theater Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for the American Theatre. Over the past six years the Free Night of Theater program has introduced more than 250,000 new theatergoers to the thrill of live performance.

The League of Chicago Theatres is an alliance of theaters that leverages its collective strength to promote, support and advocate for Chicago's theater industry locally, nationally and internationally. Currently, the League serves a diverse membership of more than 200 theaters and theater companies, ranging from small storefront, non-union companies to major cultural centers with multi-million dollar facilities and productions.
