Laura Hull Returns To Davenport's Piano Bar 7/30

By:

Hullarious Productions announced that New York City area jazz vocalist-songwriter Laura Hull will return to Davenport's Piano Bar & Cabaret on Friday, July 30, 2010 with her new show Marquee Melodies: The Music of the Movies. Davenport's Piano Bar & Cabaret is located at 1383 North Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago, Illinois. Show time is 8:00pm. There is a $20 cover charge and 2-drink minimum for the show.

A native of New York City, Ms. Hull spent her formative years singing at the resorts of upstate New York's fabled Catskill Mountains. In her early career, she worked as a session and jingle singer and showcased her singing at clubs in and around New York City. After a 24-year hiatus from music to pursue a business career, she returned to live performance in 2004 and has emerged as a melodic jazz stylist who has a real feel for the Great American Songbook.

Ms. Hull is described as having an infectious sense of swing, phrasing and style. Her music is drawn from an extensive repertoire of American popular songs, jazz standards, obscure gems, and her original songs. Noted Jazz Café host John Bohannon at WRHU Radio, Hempstead, NY says, "We're lucky to have a performer such as Laura Hull who has the style and grace to keep this great American music alive." Ms. Hull will be accompanied by Chicago-area favorites, pianist Jeremy Kahn and bassist Stewart Miller.

Ms. Hull's latest CD, "Take Me Home," is an exquisite collection of standards and has garnered excellent reviews and radio play. Her 2006 debut release, "Hullabaloo," is a CD containing all original compositions, many of which have been licensed and are heard in both domestic and international markets.

Recent appearances include NYC's Blue Note and Metropolitan Room, as well as the New Jersey Jazzfest and Gettysburg Festival. Ms. Hull is an award nominee for Best Jazz Vocalist by MAC, the Manhattan Artists and Cabarets organization, where she is a long-standing member. She also serves as president of the New Jersey Jazz Society. For more information about Ms. Hull, please visit LauraHull.com.
