LYSISTRATA Comes To DUPAC 4/17 - 4/19

By:

Aristophanes' Lysistrata is set to be performed at the Martin Recital Hall from April 17 at 7:30 pm, April 18 at 7:30 pm, and April 19 at 3:00 pm. The show is translated by Nicholas Rudall and is directed by Mark Hardiman. General admission tickets are $15 ($5 for students).

In one of the greatest of Greek comedies, Lysistrata recruits the women of Sparta, Boeotia and Corinth to end the Peloponnesian War. Their means of persuasion? Withholding sex. Aristophanes' astute theatricality and poetic wit, as timely today as when it was written, is brilliantly captured by the Rudall translation.

Founding Director of Court Theatre at the University of Chicago, Rudall is widely known for his translations and adaptations, many of which are used by the world's leading theater companies.
