Kiss Kiss Cabaret Presents PEEK-A-BOO: AN OOKY SPOOKY HALLOWEEN BURLESQUE, 9/28-10/26

By:

The Kiss Kiss Cabaret (KKC) proudly presents its annual "Peek-A-Boo: An Ooky Spooky Halloween Burlesque" ("Peek-A-Boo"), Fridays September 28 through October 26 at 11 p.m. at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln. Hosted by Mr. Bones, "Peek-A-Boo" showcases Halloween-themed burlesque performances by special guests Red Rum, Sauda Namir, Viva La Muerte and Ammunition. The evening concludes with an eye-popping, glow-in-the-dark finale, inspired by the song, "Red Right Hand".

The Kiss Kiss Cabaret was originally conceived when producers Chris O. Biddle and Jenn A. Kincaid created the first "Peek-A-Boo" burlesque show in October, 2009 at the Greenhouse Theater Center. The success of that five-week run was the impetus for forming the current weekly revue.

"Halloween is my favorite time of the year to be in a burlesque company," said Biddle. "Our Halloween burlesque show is inspired by the monster craze of the 1950's and 60's, when Dracula, The Wolfman and Frankenstein were all the rage and Halloween was as silly as it was scary! You see the sexy, dark, dangerous and goofy Halloween-inspired acts that you don't get to see during the rest of the year."

The Kiss Kiss Cabaret is Chicago's finest, weekly burlesque/comedy performance presenting a crowd-pleasing, modern spin on the classic vaudeville show. The Kiss Kiss Cabaret features burlesque strip teases, bawdy comedy and inventive variety performers including jugglers, musicians and magicians. Every performance features a rotating cast of performers and is wildly different each week.

The stars of the show are the "The Kiss Kiss Coquettes" which include Bella Ciao, Deja Sue, Naughty Natanya, Titi Touche, and Walk Away Renee, with featured performances by Bella Canto, Elle Rioux, Lady India De Minuitt, Ray Ray Sunshine and Stella Cheeks. The Coquettes regularly perform in Chicago in shows such as "Vaudezilla", "The Girly-Q Variety Hour", "Varietease Cabaret" and "The Belmont Burlesque Revue". The Coquettes have also performed at burlesque festivals around the country from Las Vegas to New York and everywhere in between.

"Peek-A-Boo: An Ooky Spooky Halloween Burlesque" also features exciting special guest acts from burlesque superstars including Red Rum, Raven Del Rio, Viva La Muerte, Sauda Namir, Evie LaRoux and Ammunition.

Complementing the dancers are a host of hilarious variety performers including stand-up comedian Adam Burke, magic and comedy by The Amazing Tomas and "That Juggling Guy" Brad French among others. The Master of Ceremonies duties are fully improvised by the Flattery brothers; Max (portrayed by Biddle) and Les (played by J. Ben Parker). The mood of the show is set by the Claptrap Family Orchestra featuring Ken Raabe on guitar and Mazurka Wojciechowska on the accordion. Choreography is by Jessica Reschke and technical assistance is provided by Keith Gatchell and Chris Corwin.

The Kiss Kiss Cabaret is an open run, Fridays at 11 p.m. at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave. "Peek-A-Boo: An Ooky Spooky Halloween Burlesque" runs September 28 through October 26.
