Prop Thtr will present the World Premiere of WIFE MATERIAL, with book, music, lyrics & performance by Jamie Shriner.

A one-woman musical show that explores female sexuality, marriage, love and gender politics, this millennial exposé may deeply offend your grandparents!

Performances are Saturday, Dec. 2 & 9 at 8 pm and Sunday, Dec. 3 & 10 at 3 pm at Prop Thtr, 3502-04 N. Elston Ave, Chicago, IL.

Jamie Shriner eloped in January 2017, and her life has been sheer bliss ever since. Or has it? In Wife Material, a one-woman show starring Jamie Shriner as herself, a 25-year-old actress examines female sexuality, loneliness, love, dating, and consent with unapologetic honesty. Is it acceptable for a young married woman to admit she enjoys sex? Wife Material is an hour-long musical comedy that "dares to go where you'd never go," featuring songs like "F***boi," "Let's Screw," and "Love Myself." The show examines a society that criticizes teenage "bad girls" for liking sex, on the one hand; and hypocritically assumes married women's sexual needs are perfectly satiated.

Wife Material showcases 10 songs written and composed by Shriner. The show is directed by Prop Thtr Artistic Director Stefan Brün, with choreography by Ben F. Locke, technical direction by Marlana Carlson, and musical arrangements by Shelbi Albert and Jake Diggity of the Nashville pop band Pet Envy.

"In November 2016, one day before the Presidential election, I moved back into my parents' house in Northwest Indiana after a year and a half of living in the UK with my fiance (now husband) Tom," said Shriner. "I struggled with the lack of physical contact and came to terms with the reality that while I, a woman, am sexual, many do not welcome me admitting that I like, let alone LOVE sex," she added.

"Wife Material holds up a mirror and forces us to look at how girls are brought up in the US. The audience gets to laugh, but not before they think, and ultimately leave the theater to DO SOMETHING," said Shriner."

All performances will be staged at the Prop Thtr, 3502-3504 N. Elston Ave in Avondale. Tickets are now on sale at dime.io/events/wifematerial.
