Heather Woodbury Performs THE LAST DAYS OF DESMOND NANI 3/3

Award-winning playwright and solo performer Heather Woodbury returns to the Steppenwolf stage for a one night only performance of "The Last Days of Desmond ‘Nani' Reese: A Stripper's History of the World" on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. in the Steppenwolf Downstairs Theatre, 1650 N. Halsted St.

Tickets go on sale Thursday, January 8, 2009, at 11 a.m.

In the year 2014, a young "ethno-femino-dance anthropologist" travels to post-quake, post-drought Los Angeles to research her 10,000 page dissertation on "The History of the World, as Told by Loose Women." Her final subject: the half-mad, 108 year-old legendary stripper Desmond "Nani" Reese, who is holed up in a bramble-covered shack with 27 cats. Woodbury channels the voices of these two unlikely heroines, illuminating the lives of outlaw women through the ages.

Heather Woodbury is also the creator of WHATEVER and Tale of 2Cities: An American Joyride on Multiple Tracks. She is the recipient of a 2007 Obie, the inaugural Spalding Gray Award and other honors. For more information go to www.heatherwoodbury.com
