Grab a martini, bring a date and enjoy a swingin’ evening with Jeff Hedberg & C11 as they honor the music of Mel Torme at Davenports.  The evening features the groundbreaking "Dektette" arrangements, originally recorded in the 1950's and 1960's.  This magical night includes the hits like “Lulu’s Back in Town” and “A Foggy Day”.

Jeff also performs at Andy’s Jazz Club on September 19th and 20th, starting at 9:30pm until 1:30am.  At Andy's, Hedberg and the ensemble are not only highlighting the vocal hits of Torme but the fantastic instrumental repertoire that saxophonist Art Pepper recorded with Marty Paich's dektette on the album Art Pepper + 11.  Andy’s historic jazz establishment is located at 11 E. Hubbard in Chicago.

Jeff Hedberg & C11 is a 12-piece, Chicago-based jazz ensemble, founded and lead by jazz vocalist/trumpeter and Blujazz Recording Artist, Jeff Hedberg.  The group, formed in April 2008, is dedicated to preserving and performing the West Coast "Cool" Jazz sound of the 1950's and 1960's.  The group features many of the top soloists, section players and freelance artists that reside in the Chicagoland area.

Mel Torme, nicknamed “The Velvet Fog”, was known as one of the great American male jazz singers.  He was also a jazz composer and arranger, a drummer, an actor in radio, film, and television, and the author of five books.  He was born in Chicago and passed away in June of 1999.

"...the powerful "double threat" combination of his smooth flugelhorn sound and h is easily accessible vocals will win people over." Chicago Jazz Magazine
