Discussions with Key Donor Provide Promising Alternative for Raue Center Image

Raue Center For The Arts announced today that due to a new development under negotiation between Raue Center and an anonymous donor, they will not move forward with plans to approach the City of Crystal Lake to request additional funding at the December 5, 2017 City Council meeting. The anticipated request was to come as the culmination of a community campaign designed to build awareness and support for the Raue in the form of additional public funding for the nonprofit organization.

"The community campaign has been successful in putting a focus on the challenges of funding the arts and maintaining a 100-year old theater, however, we are mindful that in these trying times the better approach is to turn to public funding only after exhausting all other opportunities," says Raue Center Executive Director, Richard Kuranda. "Raue Center now has just the type of opportunity that we have been hoping for. We remain grateful to all who have stepped forward over the years, including the City of Crystal Lake, to explore options and to support Raue Center. Once the negotiations are final, we will provide as much detail as the donor approves. This is a time of giving and thanksgiving. We are hopeful that this gift will meet our needs for the future."
