Corinah Duo Perform Violin-Piano Concert at Nichols Concert Hall 3/27

The Corinah Duo-Chicago Symphony Orchestra first violinist Cornelius Chiu and his wife, MIC piano faculty member Inah Chiu-performs a program of classical favorites Sunday, March 27 at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston.

On the program are three sonatas for violin and piano: Beethoven's Op. 12 in A Major; Strauss's Op. 18 in E-flat Major, and Prokofiev's Op. 80 in F Minor.

About Cornelius Chiu
Cornelius Chiu joined the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as first violinist, at the invitation of Daniel Barenboim, in 1996. He earned bachelor's and master's degrees in music performance with highest distinction from the Indiana University School of Music, where he served as concertmaster of the symphony orchestra and won the school violin competition. He has since won numerous competitions and has performed with the Indianapolis, Washington Chamber and Northwest Symphony Orchestras and at the Kennedy Center. His interest in chamber music has led to performances in France and Germany and with the MusicNow series at the CSO, as well as with his wife Inah as the Corinah Duo. He also performs duo recitals with his brother, concert pianist and recording artist Frederic Chiu.

About Inah Chiu
Born in Seoul, Korea, pianist Inah Chiu came to the U.S. at the age of 14, earning bachelor's and master's degrees in piano performance from Indiana University and a doctorate in piano performance from the Peabody Conservatory of Music. She has won many competitions and performed as a soloist with the Peabody Symphony Orchestra and the Washington Chamber Orchestra, at the Kennedy Center, as well as with the Yale Gordon, Dame Myra Hess and Music in The Loft concert series. She has been awarded honorary membership in the Delta Omicron, an international music fraternity. She serves on the faculty of the Music Institute of Chicago and performs nationally with her husband Cornelius as the Corinah Duo.

Tickets for the Corinah Duo on Sunday, March 27 at 3 p.m. at MIC's Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, Evanston are $25 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students, available at musicinst.org or 847.905.1500 ext. 108.
