It is 1930s Chicago and the green grocers need protection. How lucky that Arturo Ui and his associates are around to provide it…at a cost of course.

This production is directed by Susan Padveen, coordinator of the directing program at Columbia College Chicago. Padveen recently directed New Men by Cory Tamler, as part of The Seven, a festival of seven new plays based on the seven deadly sins, presented by the Neapolitans. She also dramaturged for last season’s Dionysus Cup at Polarity Ensemble Theatre, where she also directed Long Day’s Journey into Night and The White Airplane. Other Columbia College productions she has directed include Sing Me A Love Song, the restoration comedy She Ventures and He Wins, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the musical Your Own Thing.

Composer Ilya Levinson is an Assistant Professor at Columbia College Chicago where he teaches classes in Composition, Orchestration and Counterpoint. Levinson graduated from Moscow State Conservatory. His catalog includes operas, musicals, chamber music, and much more. The Levinson-Koch-Kalt musical Belle Barth: If I Embarrass You Tell Your Friends received a Jeff recommended production at the award winning Theo Ubique Theatre in Chicago.
