Chicago's VIVO Restaurant Celebrates 20th Anniversary

VIVO Restaurant, at 838 W. Randolph Street, established the Randolph Street Market District's flourishing dining scene two decades ago, and today remains unparalleled in honest-to-goodness Italian cooking. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, VIVO will offer a delectable three-course menu for $20, available for lunch and dinner from Tuesday, November 1 through Tuesday, November 15.

A percentage of proceeds from the 20th Anniversary Celebration Menu will be donated to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, in honor of Owner Dan Krasny's mother, his hero and a Holocaust survivor who has since passed away.

A rustic, yet hip, sleek and chic setting with exposed brick walls and beams, wood floors, soft lighting and an inviting bar, set the stage for a lavish dinner party every night of the week at VIVO! Not to mention, there is an intimate table tucked away in a converted elevator shaft, perhaps the best seat in the house. Venture upstairs and sink into the cozy yet posh velvet booths and sip a cocktail from the curvy, wrap-around bar.

"Mangia bene, vivi felice!" Executive Chef Vincente Duran believes everyone should "Eat well, live happy," and has thus created an exceptional three-course menu for VIVO's special occasion. The first course includes your choice of Antipasti e Insalate: Antipasto Della Casa, wood grilled asparagus & roasted bell peppers topped with shaved Pecorino-Romano cheese; Bruschetta di Funghi, blend of Italian mushrooms tossed with sun-dried tomatoes and a gorgonzola cream sauce served on grilled Italian bread; Calamari Grigliati, wood grilled calamari with a spicy marinara sauce; Zuppa dil Giorno; and more.

Pasta Entrees include: Spaghetti Pomodoro e Basilico; Rigatoni alla Buttera, with Italian sausage & peas in a goat cheese-tomato sauce; and Gnocchi Gratinati, handmade potato dumplings with parmesan cream & black truffle essence, to name a few. Other Entrees from which to choose are Salmone Grigliato, grilled salmon filet and asparagus with rosemary scented potatoes & lemon citronette dressing; Orecchioni di Pollo, thinly-pounded grilled chicken breast with tricolor salad & fresh apples in a lemon citronette; and Costolette D'Agnello, organic grilled lamb chops in a red-grape balsamic reduction served with sautéed rapini and potatoes.

The finishing touch is completed with your choice of Dolce! VIVO's seductive Desserts include: Chocolate Obsession, chocolate lava cake with white chocolate gelato in a Gianduja sauce; Tiramisu, made with lady fingers & sweet marscapone; Meringata, pistachio gelato, pistachio nuts & fresh raspberries wrapped in a homemade marengue & topped with warm dark chocolate sauce; and Gelati e Sorbetti, two scoops to mix & match.
