Chicago Theater Works Presents a Comedy Roast of Mr. Scrooge
This holiday season, it will be Scrooge's chestnuts roasting on an open fire. Chicago Theater Works announced this week that it will host a Comedy Roast of Mr. Scrooge with seven performances December 8- 23, at the Chicago Theater Works, 1113 W. Belmont Avenue in Chicago.
The Comedy Roast of Mr. Scrooge combines the oldest traditions from comedy-savagely mocking someone-and the holidays-imbibing in one too many 'nogs and telling everyone what you really think. From Tiny Tim to the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future, all of the beloved characters from A Christmas Carol finally get their chance to tell Scrooge what's coming to him in words that Charles Dickens never even knew. Straying far from certain local productions of Dicken's holiday classic, this irreverent and raucous show is the perfect anecdote for those who prefer a little more spice and a little less nice to their x-mases.
The Comedy Roast of Mr. Scrooge was first held in 2008 in Minneapolis. It received such a great response that it is known as a non-traditional tradition, making it a cause for celebration every holiday season.
The Comedy Roast of Mr. Scrooge plays December 8 - December 23, at Chicago Theater Works. Performances are at 8 p.m.Thursdays, Friday, December 16, and Wednesday, December 21, as well as at 11 p.m. on Friday, December 9 and December 23. There will also be one show at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16. Tickets are $27.50 and available atChicagoTheaterWorks.com or by calling 312-391-0404. The full bar at the Chicago Theater Works is open throughout. *This is a very adult production with strong language and not for those offended by modern roast humor. *Must be 18+.
