Chi Phil Chamber Players Bring Pop Fun To Classical Music

This March, the Chi Phil Chamber Players give pop hits a classical twist in Kings, Queens and Rebels. With arrangements by Chicago Philharmonic member Benton Wedge, this concert invites audiences to join Westeros royalty with the Game of Thrones theme, Star Wars rebels with the ominous Imperial March, and the game show king Slumdog Millionaire in Jai Ho (made famous by the Pussycat Dolls).

From Bollywood to bluegrass, rock to film score, this entertaining performance covering a wide range of genres also includes fun hits from Queen, Seal, Nickel Creek, and an original composition from Benton Wedge. Join Chicago's kings and queens of classical music in this unique, casual event at City Winery, located in Chicago's bustling gastronomic hub in the West Loop. Audiences are encouraged to relax with City Winery's award-winning wine and a full brunch buffet, available for purchase beginning at 10:30am.

Kings, Queens and Rebels is the third and final concert of the Chi Phil Chamber Players Spring 2018 Series at City Winery Chicago. The Chamber Players will join harpsichord virtuoso Jory Vinikour for a harpsichord extravaganza at KAM Israel Isaiah on May 5 for the final chamber concert of the season.

The Chicago Philharmonic Society is a collaboration of over 200 of the highest-level classical musicians performing in the Chicago metropolitan area. Governed under a groundbreaking structure of musician leadership, the Society presents concerts at venues throughout the Chicago area that cover the full spectrum of classical music, from Bach to Britten and beyond.
