Charles Busch to Return to Pride Arts Center with MY KINDA '60S

Tony Award nominee, Drama Desk Lifetime Achievement honoree and two-time MAC Award winner, Charles Busch, who performed two sold-out shows at Pride Arts Center in January 2017, will return on January 21 and 22 with Charles Busch: MY KINDA '60S - a new show that gets to the essence of this legendary entertainer.

Weaving tales of his Manhattan childhood and adolescence raised by his indomitable Aunt Lillian through the lens of the tumultuous decade of the 1960's, Busch will be singing a great songbook from Broadway to Pop, featuring the work of among others Burt Bacharach, Jimmy Webb, the Beatles, Henry Mancini, Bob Dylan, Stephen Sondheim and Kander and Ebb. Songs include "Two for the Road," "Anyone Who Had a Heart" and "The Times They Are A-Changin'." He will be appearing with his long-time musical director/ arranger Tom Judson in a unique evening of music and storytelling, both hilarious and poignant.

Busch's two-night stand at Pride Arts Center will be just the third engagement of MY KINDA '60S since its premiere at New York City's Feinstein's/54 Below in October. Performances will be Sunday, January 21 and Monday, January 22 at 7:30 pm in The Broadway, part of the Pride Arts Center at 4139 N Broadway. Charles Busch is the author and star of such plays as THE DIVINE SISTER, VAMPIRE LESBIANS OF SODOM, THE TRIBUTE ARTIST and THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST'S WIFE, which ran for nearly two years on Broadway and received a Tony nomination for Best Play. He wrote and starred in the film versions of his plays, PSYCHO BEACH PARTY and DIE MOMMIE DIE, the latter of which won him the Best Performance Award at the Sundance Film Festival. Pride Arts Center (PAC), operated by Pride Films and Plays, opened in 2016 and consists of two performance spaces: The Buena at 4147 N. Broadway which has 50 seats and The Broadway at 4139 N. Broadway which has 85 seats. PAC has become an important part of the arts environment in the Buena Park neighborhood and beyond by hosting events including After Orlando, Bechdel Fest, SheFest and the 525,600 Minutes Cabaret.
