Casting Call Held For THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES At Sherman Playhouse 1/29

The Sherman Playhouse is seeking a cast of three: one woman, age 45 to 60, one man, age 47 to 65, and another younger man, age 18 to 30, for its debut production of the 2012 season, Frank D. Gilroy's Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-Winning play, THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES.

About the show: Winner of the 1965 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play, THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES is a powerful "kitchen-sink" drama centered on three strangers: A mother, a father, and a son. It is 1946. Twenty-one-year-old Timmy Cleary returns from World War II to his boyhood home in the Bronx…and to his estranged parents, John and Nettie. Quickly, old wounds are opened. Husband and wife squabble. Timmy has outgrown his mother's doting ways. John's attempts to overcome years of neglect with his son prove to be a stormy path. Finally, Timmy must make a fateful decision that will impact the destinies of all three strangers' lives.

All auditions will be held at The Sherman Playhouse, 5 Route 39 North (next to the fire station), in Sherman, CT on Sunday, January 29 and Monday, January 30 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES is under the direction of Tom Libonate of Danbury.

Auditioners will be asked to read from the script. All roles are available and both professionals and amateurs are welcome. No appointments are necessary. Rehearsals begin February 13 with performances beginning March 30 and running through April 21 on Fridays and Saturdays with one Sunday matinee on April 15.
