CakeWalk, a Chicago-based improv comedy troupe, is producing a weekly late-night variety show that is growing in popularity and proving itself worthy of the name CakeWalk Midnight Extravaganza!

Party into the night with this wild, hilarious variety show featuring a different live band each week along with a rotating cast of outrageous comedians and entertainers. See some of Chicago's best sketch, improv and stand-up, as well as tap and burlesque dancers, magicians, jugglers, fire twirlers, and more! It's a different lineup every Friday night, and with a ticket price of only $5, it's the best bang for your buck in the city!

After the show, the audience is encouraged to stay and party with the performers who just rocked their socks off!

CakeWalk is Aaron Caponigro, Sherman Edwards, Matt Owens, and Eric Rutherford. The group began performing together in May 2009 and has been producing the CakeWalk Midnight Extravaganza! since November 2009.

Aaron Caponigro (Producer/Performer) is a native Chicagoan who has performed with Navy Pier Entertainment, The Second City Outreach, Improv Acadia, The Comedy Shrine, Emerald City, Chicago Kids Co., and Beverly Arts Center, among others. Aaron performs regularly with Storytown at iO Theater, at Thursday Happy Hour, a solo sketch showcase at The Playground Theater, with the improvised tall tale Hogwash, and with his tween-age son Jacob as the comedy duo UnRelated, which recently performed at the Chicago SketchFest.

Sherman Edwards (Producer/Performer) can be found performing his 2-man show Tomato/Tomatoe at the Annoyance Theater or onstage at iO Theater with his other improv group, Blackout with whom he can found on the radio at Vocalo.org.

Matt Owens (Producer/Performer) is the co-host and co-creator of the Chicago podcast staple, The Poor Choices Show, which can be heard on iTunes. Matt is also the head of Bottled Anarchy Productions, has performed internationally, and has taught improv workshops all over the United States. Matt can be seen improvising around Chicago at the Playground and Annoyance Theaters.

Eric Rutherford (Producer/Performer) has performed internationally with The Second City, and around town with The Annoyance and iO Theaters. Eric wrote Mom Grows Peaches Big with Her Mind. Dad is a Time Assassin. for the Annoyance Theater and has recently turned some of his attention to directing, guiding the groups Gander Goose and Germans at Chicago SketchFest.

The Playground Theater is the nation's first and only not-for-profit co-op theater dedicated to the performance and instruction of improvised comedy - an art form for which Chicago is internationally renown.
