BroadwayWorld Chicago Is Hosting An Awards Celebration December 29th, And You’re Invited!

By:

BroadwayWorld, the biggest theater site on the web, is proud to announce that there will be a live Celebration of the first annual BroadwayWorld Chicago Theatre Fans' Choice Awards. And you're invited! Come celebrate Chicago's 2010 BroadwayWorld Awards with us!!

In response to the call for an event to mark the inaugural year of these online awards, a Celebration will take place on Wednesday night, December 29, 2010, at The Call, 1547 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue in Chicago's Edgewater community. The Call, Andersonville's largest GLBT video and dance bar, hosts Showtune Wednesdays every week from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am, and Chicago.BroadwayWorld.com will be there on December 29th to welcome you, along with as many nominees and winners of the BroadwayWorld Awards as are able to attend. Come one, come all! There's no charge for admission, though you must be at least 21 years of age to attend, and regular drink prices will apply.

We'll mark the end of the calendar year with this special look back at the 2009-2010 theater season, and all the fan favorites that made it so memorable. The evening is designed to be casual, fun and a great way to hang out with people you know well, to get to know folks you don't know yet, and to enjoy Andersonville's Showtune Night, to boot!

Every half hour or so, BroadwayWorld.com's Chicago-based contributing writers, Paul W. Thompson and M. William Panek, will announce the names of the winners of a few of the 25 categories that theater fans have been voting on since the first of November (voting ends December 20th, in case you haven't already voted, and the winners will be announced online shortly thereafter). Winners (or even nominees) who make their presence known at any time during the evening at The Call will be able to say a few words to their friends and supporters. Just let us know you are there!

Online voting has been going on since the first of November, and the competition is fierce in many categories! If you missed the original announcement of the nominees, you can find it by clicking here. And if you still need to vote or check who's ahead as of right now (prior to December 20, 2010), do so here

57 different Theater Productions, mounted by 33 separate theaters or companies between September 1, 2009 and August 31, 2010, are represented among the 121 nominees. The awards are designed to recognize excellence, as voted by the fans of Chicagoland theater, and encompass all of the various forms and sizes of theater here, from tours to resident productions, large to small, Equity to Non-Equity, play, musical and revue.

So stop by and join us in the fun on December 29th, and if you're a nominee, or you represent one of the nominated theaters, prepare a few words, come and introduce yourselves, and deliver that speech--in front of the most supportive audience you will probably ever see! Showtune videos will play in between the live remarks, bringing you the video clips of theater, film, television and the internet that you love the best! So mark your calendars, call your friends, and make it a great night to celebrate. The BroadwayWorld Chicago Theatre Fans' Choice Awards are here to stay! Celebrate!

"A Celebration Of the 2010 BroadwayWorld Chicago Theatre Fans' Choice Awards" will take place Wednesday evening, December 29, 2010, from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am, at The Call, 1547 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60660 (773-334-2525). The Call is just steps away from the CTA Red Line's Bryn Mawr stop, the #22 Clark bus and the #50 Damen bus.
