BrightSide Theatre Opens COMPANY Tonight

By:

BrightSide Theatre kicks off our Second Season with the entertaining and enlightening Modern Masterpieces with Stephen Sondheim's 7 time Tony Award® winning musical comedy, "Company".

Company follows Bobby, a single man unable to commit to a steady relationship, the five couples who are his best friends and his three on-again off-again girlfriends. Company is an honest, witty, sophisticated and contemporary look at relationships. At his 35th birthday celebration, Bobby contemplates his single status and searches for answers about commitment from his poignant, funny, yet slightly envious married friends. Company features a brilliant energetic score containing many of Sondheim's best known songs including "Another Hundred People", "Side by Side", "The Ladies Who Lunch" and "Being Alive".

Artistic Director Jeffrey Cass - "For over five years now I've been waiting to find the right time and place to direct Company and I'm so excited to bring this production to our audience. I'm fascinated by the central character of Bobby. As much as he thinks he's content with his situation in life, he cannot fight the innate need for companionship. It fascinates me how we live in a world where we are so connected and think we know who we are and what we want, but no matter what, we cannot escape the elemental need to find someone to love us and for us to love them."
