About the Play

Mass hysteria grips a colonial town as public witch hunts pit brother against brother. But when local witches attempt to band together to stop the madness, they quickly discover that sister against sister can be far more wicked. This irreverent comedy is the 2013-2014 winner of BWBTC's Joining Sword & Pen competition. JS&P invites playwrights from around the globe to take inspiration from a work of visual art, and use it as a basis for a brand new work for theatre that features strong roles for women. Since its inception, JS&P has been sponsored by Fight Master David Woolley, SAFD. More information at http://babeswithblades.org/?page_id=46.

Witch Slap! is inspired by the paintings Medieval 1 and Medieval 2 by Gabriella Boros, the winner of Inspiring Sword & Pen 2012. The Inspiring Sword & Pen 2014 art competition is open through August 15, 2014. More information at http://babeswithblades.org/?page_id=802.
