By:

Artemisia, a Chicago Area Actors' Equity Theatre that produces visionary, female-driven plays, is the proud recipient of a grant from the MacArthur Funds for Arts and Culture at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.

"It is an honor to receive such a prestigious grant, especially when Artemisia is becoming a vital part of the Edgewater Theatre District," says Julie Proudfoot, Artemisia's Founder and Executive Artistic Director. The Driehaus Foundation has a long history of supporting small to mid-sized arts organizations in Chicago; its impact on sustaining the cultural life of the city is enormous. Artemisia's expanded and cutting-edge 2016-2017 Theatre Season will be performed at the all-new Edge Theatre, a 119-seat performance venue that will support Artemisia's continued growth and success.

The MacArthur Funds for Arts and Culture at the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation affirms the Foundation's dedication and commitment to the diversity and richness of Chicago's performing arts. "Artemisia uses theatre to challenge the audience's perception of women and this grant is no less than a game-changer for us," says Julie. To learn more about The Richard H.
