About Face Theatre's THE BLACK & TAN SUPPER CLUB Gala Set for 10/9
For one exclusive night, step back into a bygone era as About Face Theatre presents its 3rd annual THE BLACK & TAN SUPPER CLUB gala on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 7 pm - 10 pm at the elegant and historic InterContinental Chicago Magnificent Mile, 505 N. Michigan Ave. in Chicago. This magical throwback evening of cocktails, fine dining and virtual non-stop entertainment will celebrate About Face Theatre's 20th Anniversary. Tickets for THE BLACK & TAN SUPPER CLUB are available at www.aboutfacetheatre.org or by calling (773) 784-8565.
Inspired by jazz joints and supper clubs of yesteryear, where gays, lesbians and other "non-conformists" gathered to dance, drink and drag, proceeds from THE BLACK & TAN SUPPER CLUB will support About Face Theatre's programming, and nationally recognized youth outreach initiatives. Lose yourself in the sights, sounds and flavors of Chicago's past and celebrate About Face Theatre's future!
THE BLACK & TAN SUPPER CLUB 2015 Co-Chairs are Rob Abernathy and Becky Huinker.
The evening will also include the annual presentation of the prestigious 2015 Leppen Leadership Awards and the About Face Youth Theatre MVP Award.
About the Awards
Named for About Face Youth Theatre supporter Michael Leppen, the annual Leppen Leadership Awards recognize those whose efforts on behalf of About Face Theatre and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex and allied (LGBTQIA) community empower youth leaders to take action and encourage LGBTQIA adults and youth to create intergenerational dialogue and understanding. The About Face Youth Theatre MVP Award is given to an outstanding youth theatre ensemble member for exceptional service to the company and to the greater LGBTQIA community.
