American Theater Company (ATC) announces a change to the final production of its ambitious Season 24: Hedwig and the Angry Inch, directed by Artistic Director PJ Paparelli, will run April 9- May 17, 2009 at American Theater Company, 1909 W Byron St, Chicago. Press Opening is Monday, April 13, 2009 at 7 PM.

ATC further announces that Yeast Nation (the triumph of life), previously scheduled as the final production of the season, has been moved to open Season 25 in September 2009. Following recent ATC-sponsored workshops, the new production from the Tony award-winning creators of Urinetown has been slated to kick-off the theater's 25th anniversary with exciting revisions and never-before-seen musical numbers.

"Yeast Nation is a tremendous opportunity for ATC," says Artistic Director PJ Paparelli. "With that comes the responsibility of making sure we are supporting its development to ensure the most successful launch possible. The outside interest and feedback we've received has been thrilling and has stimulated our most exciting chapter of artistic development."

Winner of the 2001 Obie Award and Outer Circle Critics Award for best Off-Broadway Musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of a young East German who discovers that the only way to escape communism and come to the United States is to give up a little part of himself. Yes, through a bit of surgery, Hansel becomes Hedwig, marries, and embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. In its first rock musical ever, American Theater Company transforms its theatrical warehouse into an underground nightclub for a concert event not to be missed.
