The Chicago Fringe Festival kicks off the 2013 Festival. Performances in the fourth annual Chicago Fringe Festival take place in a variety of venues in their new Jefferson Park location, today, August 29 - September 8. Tickets are on sale August 1.

Entrance to the Festival is a one-time button purchase of $5, after that all individual performances are $10. Passes with a discounted ticket price are available when attending multiple performances: five-show pass is $45, ten-show pass is $80 and an unlimited pass is $175. Each venue will have a box office for day-of purchase and the box office for the entire Festival is located at Fringe Central, 4780 N. Milwaukee Ave, (Fischman's Liquors). Tickets may be purchased at chicagofringe.org.

The 2013 Chicago Fringe Festival features 25 performers from the Chicagoland area including Teatra Luna's Generation Sex: Get Connected, Jonathan Baude's Men and Dogs; Blueshift Theatre Company's Shift; HartLife NFP's Our Fair City: A Live Post-Apocalyptic Audiodrama; MamLuft&Co. Dance's Maps; Jennifer Olson's Anonymously Yours; (re)discover theatre's Home; Sea Beast Puppet Company's Méfiez-Vous de la Vache-Garou! (Beware the Werecow!):Tales of Terror from the Louisiana Bayou; Spartan Theatre Company's Heart in a Cage; Troupe Strozzi's Troupe Strozzi Mounts Olympus and and 25 performances from the United States: California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida Louisiana, Ohio and New York including Silver Glass Productions' Smart Comedy (Tampa, Florida) and a performance from Vienna, Austria, Daniel Wolfsbauer Productions' Surviving Love. The Festival also includes several performers from previous years including Rebecca Kling's Get Ready for the Vagina Fairy; Genesis Ensemble's Phenomena and The League of Miscreants' The Miscreants Run Out Of Ideas.

Some of the performance groups in Chicago Fringe Festival 2013 have participated in other prominent Fringe Festivals, including the Edinburgh Festival, Indy Fringe and the New York Fringe Festival.

CHICAGO FRINGE FESTIVAL 2013 SPECIAL EVENTS

All events are held at Fringe Central - Fischman's - 4780 N. Milwaukee Ave. During the daytime, Fringe Central has entertainment for artists and visitors including board games, the "nerdatron" (Nintendo, Sega, and Super Nintendo all in one mighty machine), Wii, board games, music and crafts.

Opening Reception

Thursday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m.

The opening reception includes the Opening Ceremonies, one-minute previews by participating artists and a dance party.

Freakin' Fringe-aoke

Friday, Aug. 30 at 8 p.m.

Fringe Central hosts a karaoke party for performers and the public.

The Place of Fringe in a Storefront City - panel and continental breakfast

Saturday, Aug. 31 at 11 a.m.

Meet with other Fringe members over a light breakfast to discuss the Fringe Festival and its place in the Storefront City.

Preposterous Prom at the Fringe

Saturday, Aug. 31 at 8 p.m.

The Fringe hosts a prom featuring photo booth, picture gallery of actual performer's prom pictures, a dance off, spin the bottle, prom court, finger lasers and a make-out "limo."

Fringe Benefit Night

Sunday, Sept. 1 at 7:30 p.m.

($20 in advance, $25 at the door)

Admittance price includes three drink tickets, food, dancing and access to the auction.

Outrageous Olympics: Frolicking Fringe Style

Monday, Sept. 2

Fringe hosts its first Olympics - Fringe style.

3 - 5 p.m.: Play shoe golf, frisbee tic tac toe, water balloon target, paper plate discus, seed spitting (cherries), straw javelin throw, torch run and cottonballput.

8 p.m.: Participate in the run-the-circuit relay, tassel spinning, shot balance contest, creative shot drinking, beer pong and string eating (like "Lady and the Tramp").

Fringe Unplugged, Unfettered & Unleashed

Thursday, Sept. 5 at 8 p.m.

Gather around the fake campfire for board games, story telling, acoustic guitars, crafts and bubbles.

Sextravaganza/Sexpo/Sexy Pie Night

The One, The Only CLLAW: Chicago League of Lady Arm Wrestlers - Meet, Greet and Matches

The Chicago League of Lady Arm Wrestlers is one of many volunteer, all female wrestling organizations forming around the world. CLLAW has been described in the Washington Post as the most awesome "fantasy sports league in which outrageously dressed bawdy femmes battle it out for the championship title." Come interact with these quirky, costumed wrestlers and experience the magic of their matches in the Alderman John Arena Arena!

Anti-Oscars Awards Night and Climatic Closing
