2011 ComedySportz Theatre Announces Summer Schedule

Celebrating 24 years of making Chicago audiences laugh, The ComedySportz Theatre announces their Summer 2011 show line up.

New Show Added:
reDUB: Improvisors VS Movies. What happens when Chicago's best improvisors take on Hollywood's worst films? reDUB: Improvisors vs. Movies features five hilarious performers creating brand new dialogue and music for a movie they have never seen before. These dusty old characters and plot lines will be made fresh and funny, and nothing is planned in advance. Absolutely anything can happen as cinema history is altered forever! Opens: 6/23/11. Closes: 9/1/11. Thursdays at 10pm. Tickets: $5

Returning Summer Shows:
Monday
8pm - Impress These Apes! Impress These Apes is an 8-week talent competition. Each week the contestants perform in a different talent challenge, and are judged and scored by three hyper-intelligent apes from the future. The contestant with the most points at the end of eight weeks is crowned Least Pitiful Human.

Wednesday - Free Night Of Comedy
Free Night of Comedy returns! Hot improv comedy and cold drinks every Wednesday this summer. Drink Special: $2 Miller Products. Opens: 6/22/11. Closes: 8/24/11. Tickets: Free.
SHOWS:
8pm - REC LEAGUE Students and Training Center Alumni create their own mini-shows for your laughing pleasure.
9pm - Battle-Prov Our ComedySportz farm team battles against visiting comedy troupes from around the city. (Battle-Prov moves from its old time slot of Thursday's at 10pm)
10pm - The Improv Open Mike Chicago's wildest amateur jam is back to get YOU on stage to play improv games. Hosted by Kevin Pomoroy

Friday - SMASHED! The Improvised Bachelorette Party
Come get SMASHED at the Improvised Bachelorette Party! - part improv, part dance party, all wild - SMASHED lampoons the last night of a freedom as these ladies make their way to the club Mancakes for some wild action and short form games. With plenty of chances to get your favorite bride to be up on stage and plenty of hilarious male "dancers", SMASHED is a great way to kiss single life good-bye. Closes: 9/2/11. Tickets: $10

Sunday Shows:
7pm - Octavarius: So Nefarious
Octavarius: So Nefarious returns to The ComedySportz Theatre with their high octane, no holds barred, improv comedy invasion. ‘So Nefariuos', Octavarius's original show, combines classic improv games with the artful tradition of Chicago improvisation. It's like Whose Line Is It Anyway, Jackson Pollock and ConAir had a baby and you can come see it perform. Each week there is a different improv opening team and there are ticket discounts for dressing in the theme of that week's show.
Opens: 6/19/11. Closes: 12/18/11. Tickets: $10
9pm - The Duel Dual
The Dual Duel is a 2-person improv competition. Each week 5 teams get to showcase their stuff for 10 minute sets. The audience votes on the teams. The winner of each week gets placed further in the tournament, and the second place winner goes to a 'last chance' round. The grand prize winner will take home trophies and 2 hundred dollar bills! Opens: 6/19/11. Closes: 9/11/11. Tickets: $5
