Piedmont Players Theatre to Present THE NERD, 7/25-8/3

Piedmont Players Theatre along with Fibrant presents THE NERD by Larry Shue. Opening Night at the Meroney Theater, Thursday, July 25 at 7:30pm. Join the cast for a complimentary reception on the 3rd floor of the Meroney immediately following the opening performance.

One of the funniest plays ever written, this extraordinarily inventive, side-splitting comedy was first presented by the Milwaukee Repertory Theatre, then produced in Great Britain, then went on to Broadway. The action centers on the hilarious dilemma of a young architect who is visited by a man he's never met but who saved his life in Vietnam-the visitor turning out to be an incredibly inept, hopelessly stupid "nerd" who outstays his welcome with a vengeance.

The play ran on Broadway for 441 performances starring Mark Hamill and directed by Charles Nelson Reilly and was the highest selling American show on the West End in London in 1986.
