Film Actors' Studio of Charlotte is registering the next session of our Subtextual Film Acting Class, a beginning acting class, starting November 14, 2010. Taught by Lon Bumgarner, this 8 week class is a foundational study in acting -- in front of a camera or on stage. We use cameras to record your progress and to analyze what is happening in your performance. This fosters understanding of the actors' relationship to the vehicle of film. In addition, the basic premises of 'truthful' acting are examined, along with a basic text, "Acting: The First Six Lessons" by Richard Boleslavsky.

8 week class, starts Nov. 14th, 2-4pm Sundays at Corrigan & Johnston Casting Studio in NoDa. Cost: $250
(Nov. 28 and Dec. 26 holidays will be skipped; class on Jan. 2)
$40 non-refundable deposit. Payment plans available.
Registration online: www.filmactorsstudio.net or call Sarah with any questions at 980-428-1586.*

Lon is an "actors" instructor, even though he is and has been a professional director and producer of film and stage for decades. He brilliantly understands the role of the actor in the production and passionately desires his students to "get" the concepts of finding your Personal Voice and bringing forth Truth (as opposed to imitation, indication, or make-believe) in performance. Lon is assisted by Marilyn Carter, Masters in Drama, Yale and currently adjunct instructor of acting at CPCC and UNCC.

Lon has taught hundreds of students and professional actors in the over ten years that he has been in Charlotte teaching acting and is also currently a Professor of Acting at UNCC. He has two MFA's: one in Film, the other in Theatre. He has studied with the Royal Shakespeare Academy in England, worked in Hollywood for 8 years, directed (and directs) plays in NYC, Charlotte and elsewhere, and ran Charlotte's only Equity theatre company for 6 years. See his CV at www.filmactorsstudio.net.
