BWW Previews: A SOUTHERN GIRL'S GOT TO HAVE IT by Elaine Alexander

By: Mar. 25, 2015

A Southern Girl's Got To Have It opens this Thursday, March 26 and runs through Sunday, March 29, at Rock Hill Community Theater in Rock Hill, South Carolina. It is a collection of one-act comedies written by award winning playwright, Elaine Alexander and directed by theatre veteran Gaye Haid.

What does a Southern girl got to have? Maybe it's a slick-talking Yankee boyfriend! Finding stardom in a zombie movie! Or just getting the dang copier to work! Whatever it is, these wacky Southern women and the other outrageous characters in the short but sassy comedies that make up A Southern Girl's Got To Have It will certainly delight with brimmed to the rim Dixie-fried fun.

One of the comedies, Let's Mullet Over features Angela Luksch, as Eunice, a beautician with the "hots" for Yankee men and Keith Hopkins, the mullet hair master Beau E. The comedy, Orange Cat Fever features Allison Turner Wilhelm as the Clemson-crazed Tiger mama that bare her claws when the Clemson admissions' officer (Brett Reed) dares to deny entry to her daughter (Ruthie Reed). LA actor Keith Hopkins will portray show biz obsessed Miss Lula Mae Johnson, who is desperately seeking a role as an extra in a zombie movie, in the comedy, Die Zombie Extra Die. The comedy, Hard Copy stars Rahdreia-Renae Hawkins, a Charlotte resident by way of Fayetteville, NC and Emmanuel Barbe who has performed in such classics as Hamlet and Julia Caesar.

The Rock Hill Community Theatre is located at 546 Cherry Road, Suite N., Rock Hill (Behind ROC Emporium at Apple West Center). Tickets can be purchased at http://www.rockhilltheatre.org
