“It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice… or take a stand… or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today, the Songs for a New World. The first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County), this moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make. Brown transports his audience from the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge, 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, to meet a startling array of characters that range from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams… and a soulless marriage.”

Music & Lyrics by Jason Robert Brown
presented by Players on High at the Carlisle Theatre
Directed by Anna Palese | Music Direction by Maddie Felix.
2 Hour Run-Time | Rated PG-13

Cast

Joe Kemprowski

Joe is thrilled to be making his Players on High debut in Songs for a New World. Joe graduated from West Virginia University with a BFA in Acting in 2021. Since then, he could have been seen as a reoccurring face on the Allenberry Playhouse stage in Boiling Springs. (Most notably: Joey in Sister Act, Lord Pinkleton in R&H’s Cinderella, Don Kirshner in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and Sonny in Grease.) Most recently Joe made his directorial debut directing Disney’s Newsies at the Allenberry Playhouse. Special thanks to anyone supporting local artists in the community by coming to see all the exceptional theatre being produced locally. Enjoy the show!

Bernard Labuskes

Bernie is delighted to return to the Carlisle Theater stage for the first time since he played Senator Fipp in the Players on High production of Urinetown. Since then, he has gotten into mischief with the Players' mystery dinner troupe, and appeared as Count Ipolotov in Keystone Theatrics' production of Anastasia, and Maurice in its production of Beauty and the Beast. Bernie is a Board Member, tenor, and featured soloist with The Harrisburg Singers, one of the area's premier choral ensembles. He is, as always, grateful to his family and friends for all their love and support.
