Ware Center to Screen Royal Ballet's ALICE'S ADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND, 6/30

By:

The Ware Center, Millersville University Lancaster continues showing high-definition, sound surround films of recently produced operas and films. The latest to be shown on Sunday, June 30th at 3 PM will be The Royal Ballet's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," with music by the Royal Opera House Orchestra, conducted by David Briskin and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon. This highly colorful production was filmed in London on March 28, 2013 and is being shown for the first time here in Lancaster.

Those familiar with Lewis Carroll's literary menagerie of colorful characters will enjoy the clarity with which Christopher Wheeldon portrays them in dance. The whole Company is drawn into the fun, dancing a myriad of quirky characters: a twitchy White Rabbit, a tap dancing Mad Hatter, a sinuous caterpillar and so many more. Alice and the Knave of Hearts, deftly danced by Principal Dancers Sarah Lamb and Federico Bonelli, are at the centre of the story, and in the role of The Queen of Hearts, Zenaida Yanowsky is wittily captured with hilarious results. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is a brilliantly imagined show and, with a magical score, ingeniously inventive designs and a wealth of theatrical effects, has something for everyone to treasure.

Children will love this quick-paced, brightly colored ballet on film which captures on of the best known, most widely read children's fairy tale.

The film is 155 minutes which includes one intermission. Light refreshments will be served during the intermission.

This event is open to the public. Tickets:$15 | $12 for seniors | $5 for students. Tickets may be reserved calling the Ticket Office at 717-872-3811; online, at millersville.edu/MUARTS; Or in person at the Ware Center Box Office.
