Totem Pole Playhouse to Open New Season with CHAPS! THE MUSICAL, 6/2-17

By:

If last summer you tapped your toes to the lonesome cowboy stylings of Hank Williams: Lost Highway or got carried away with the frenetic mayhem of Suite Surrender, then you'll love Totem Pole Playhouse's season opener, Chaps! – The Musical. Sparks fly, temperatures rise, and country music will never be the same in this new musical farce running June 2 – 17, 2012 at The Playhouse.

It's 1944 in wartime England and the BBC studios are all set to welcome American Tex Riley and his band of Singing Cowboys for a special broadcast to the troops. But when they fail to show, the station employees have to think fast and improvise even faster to keep the program on the air. Out of desperation, Tex's tour manager and a frantic young British producer grab whomever they can - a snobby announcer, an amiable sound man, a passing soap opera actor - slap them into costume, hand them scripts and shove them in front of the studio audience.

Totem Pole guarantees a barrel of good ol' fashioned laughs as an all – star cast serves up a heaping helping of hilarious characters, plot twists and over 20 classic American Cowboys songs like "Tumblin' Tumbleweeds," "Back in the Saddle Again" "Cool Water," and "Ride Cowboy Ride." This is one show that our patrons won't soon forget. "Chaps! – The Musical has everything Totem Pole audiences want: live music, great actors and lots and lots of laughs," says Artistic Director Ray Ficca. "I'm betting on it to be the audience favorite of the summer, like Southern Crossroads was in 2011."

Mr. Ed's Elephant Museum, 104.7 WAYZ and Walker, Connor & Spang are sponsoring Chaps! – The Musical, which runs June 2nd – 17tth.
