This weekend I had the great opportunity to meet the legendary, Tony and Grammy winning Kinky Boots star, Billy Porter! He was in town for a benefit event with Prima Theatre (link to website is below) in Lancaster, PA which I attended and later got to participate in a meet and greet with him after the concert. It was only fitting for him to be here since the star grew up in Pennsylvania. The concert itself blew me away. As a teen who participates in theatre, it's always inspiring to see a Broadway star perform because it's very interesting to realize that they started from the same point as you, and if you put your mind and hard work into it you can end up like them. That thought just kept running through my mind as I took in the concert, smiling and clapping along. Things took an even more exciting turn when Billy invited the audience to come up on stage and dance, so I took the opportunity and now I can say that I danced on stage with Billy Porter. :)

Anyway, afterwards the meet and greet was extra special as well. Billy really took the time to talk to each individual and to thank them for coming and that's really touching because not all stars are like that. However, Billy took time to connect with his audience especially those who support him so much. (One lady said she saw Kinky Boots 37 times!) Of course, I got my picture with him and documented the moment. Overall it was a very memorable night and I'll never forget his inspirational concert!

However, not only did I see Billy Porter perform but that morning he came and saw Big, The Musical at The Fulton Theatre which I was a part of! (One more Saturday left! Link to website is below.) Once the nervousness subsided, I was overjoyed to know that A real BROADWAY star would be in the audience watching this incredibly talented cast and I perform. After the show he came down to the green room and we managed to take a cast picture together and again, it was wonderful to have him appreciate and congratulate us on our show! It was an extremely memorable event in my life! This weekend was filled with excitement and inspiration and I'm very grateful to have experienced it all. Thank you, Billy Porter!
