Power and greed collide as The Company Theatre presents Shakespeare’s MACBETH

Witchcraft, prophesy and murder create a toxic mix in The Company Theatre’s upcoming production of
Shakespeare’s MACBETH, running Jan. 31 – Feb. 16 at the historic Temple Building Theatre.
The noble Macbeth navigates an imperfect world while battling forces of nature, fear, and will. What
does tomorrow hold, and are the decisions we make truly our own? Directed by Philip Detrick,
MACBETH tells a haunting tale of what drives people to do the unthinkable.
The production features Carl Del Buono as the title character with Jill Rittinger as Lady Macbeth. The
three witches cooking up “toil and trouble” are played by Kidane Vida Malik, Jael Lopez Acosta and Vicki
Casarett.
The classic Shakespearean tale has its own superstitions: it is often referred to as “The Scottish Play” by
actors, as it is thought that uttering the name MACBETH in a theater brings about bad luck.
"I am really compelled by the idea of nature or fate versus the human will to go against it; or accept it,”
Detrick said. “The text is full of animals and nature, and that idea plays a key part in how the Witches
interact in our version of MACBETH. I can't wait for the audience to see what we've cooked up."
Rounding out the cast are: Caitlin Kenyon, Prophete Andazola, Erin Kate Howard, Sammi Cohen, David
Munnell, Campbell McDade Clay, Corrina Mullins, Natalie Bloss, Ian Remmers, and Kathryn Borden.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and 5 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $28 general
admission, $25 for students and seniors, and are on sale at www.thecompanytheatreroc.org/box-office.

info@thecompanytheatreroc.org. The theater is located at 50 Liberty Pole Way, in downtown
Rochester.
An ASL-interpreted performance is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15. A portion of the proceeds from that
evening will be donated to the Rochester Deaf Kitchen, addressing hunger and food insecurity within the
Deaf community in Rochester.
