Photo Flash: The Sherman Playhouse Opens New Season with THE TAMING OF THE SHREW

By:

The Sherman Playhouse opens their 2018 season with William Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew on April 20 and closes May 12.

"This has been a great rehearsal run for our A list cast and crew," says Robin Frome, Director, "We have expertly and meticulously managed to update the play to the 1930's style Padua, Italy, the town in which it is set. It is working out stupendously with costumes, lighting and set design. I am excited to be reintroducing the bard to our area community theater. It has been a long time coming to witness Shakespeare's comic craft and storytelling in this area."

The play centers around a dilemma for a wealthy father, Baptista (Dean Alexander of New Fairfield) who needs to wed his older, undesirable daughter, Kate (Alison Bernhardt of New Milford) before he can marry off his younger milder daughter, Bianca (Brianna Bowman of Bethel) Along comes the bold Petruchio (Joe Harding of New Milford) to tame the wild Kate for his liking to be his wife leaving love-struck Lucentio (Karl Hinger of New Milford) and his cohort, Trainio (Jared Emmanuel of Bethel) to woo the fair Bianca over other less than worthy suitors, Hortensio (Jeff Bukowski of Shelton) and Gremio (John Fabiani of Watertown.)

Other actors include Morgana Watson of Brewster, NY, Lizzie Booth and Steve Stott of Brookfield, Patrick Fergus of New Milford and William Kenyon of Ridgefield.

The crew consists of Al Chiappetta of Gaylordsville on Lighting Design, David White of Sherman on Sound Design, Lisa Bonelli of Pawling, NY on Costuming, Steven Stott of Brookfield as Producer and Assistant Director and Jessica Gleason of Sherman as Stage Manager.
