M&T Bank '18-19 Broadway Season To Start With Record-Breaking Subscription Numbers And Local Economic Boost

M&T Bank '18-19 Broadway Season To Start With Record-Breaking Subscription Numbers And Local Economic Boost ImageThe 2018-2019 M&T Bank Broadway Season, presented by RBTL and Albert Nocciolino, will open with the launch of the National Tour of A BRONX TALE at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre.

"We were thrilled to have been selected to launch two previous National Tours, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME and SCHOOL OF ROCK," said Presenter, Albert Nocciolino. "And now we get to do it again with the hit new musical, A BRONX TALE. Rochester audiences will have the privilege of being the first to see this show outside of New York City."

Thanks to New York State's continued Theatre Tax Incentive Program (which offers tax credits to producers who tech their tours within the state), RBTL's Auditorium Theatre in Rochester was selected as the theatre within which to launch the show's North American Tour. Crews arrived on October 1 and joined local union members to get the show ready to open and tour. The cast later arrived to rehearse and perfect the show while staying and eating locally and enjoying some of our best local attractions in their free time.

RBTL Executive Vice President, Linda Glosser, says "The New York State Theatre Tax Credit, which incentivizes touring Broadway productions like A BRONX TALE to open their national tours in Upstate New York, combined with Rochester audiences' continued love for live theatre, is what keeps arts and entertainment thriving and viable in Rochester."

Based on statistical analysis by The Broadway League, the New York City-based national trade association for the Broadway industry, the local economic impact of the engagement can be projected in excess of 3 million dollars. This economic boom will touch area hotels, restaurants, A BRONX TALE, directed by Academy Award winner Robert De Niro and Tony winner Jerry Zaks and based on Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri's story, runs October 14-21 for 8 performances.

The economic boom of this engagement will touch area hotels, restaurants, tourist attractions, parking lots, retailers, union workers, vehicle rental companies and more. This is vital in enhancing quality of life for Rochesterians, and bringing revenue into the community.

To add to the excitement of the National Tour Launch of A BRONX TALE, Season Subscription numbers are at an all-time high. The 2018-2019 M&T Bank Broadway Season is anchored by the highly anticipated 3-week engagement of HAMILTON along with touring productions of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, CHICAGO, MISS SAIGON, and WAITRESS to round out the season. "We are honored to have both new and returning Season Ticket Holders join us this year," Nocciolino adds. "It's wonderful to share the excitement with so many patrons. We cannot wait to welcome everyone to the theatre as we kick-off the season with A BRONX TALE."
